It is with enormous sadness that Sadie and I have made the very difficult decision to close our business down with immediate effect for medical reasons.

Sadie and I want to thank all of you for your kind messages of support through this difficult period, it has been very humbling and much appreciated.

We have had fifteen very happy years here and many of you have become friends, it has been an absolute pleasure serving you and the community. (I shall miss the banter, but I bet you won’t miss my jokes)!

Thank you for all of your loyal support, custom, friendship and for being a big part of our lives for fifteen years.

New Talk "Much Ado About Food"

I am delighted to offer a new talk called "Much Ado About Food" - a culinary whirl through history, exploring our food past through material culture, recipes, books, herbs and spices. For bookings and enquiries, please email me at sadiehirst@btinternet.com 

New for 2018: Food History and Historic cookery workshops –  Following on from the success of the workshops I offered with Heritage Lincolnshire on Medieval Food and WW1 and 2 Era food, I am pleased to be offering the chance for you to book your own food history workshop. I cover all eras from the medieval period to WW2 and these can be tailor made for  your requirements.

Off the Beeton Track - This talk looks at cookery books as a form of literature and intangible part of our shared cultural heritage. We explore the unique way in which we interact with them, their subtext and purpose and the importance of preserving local and family recipes. Cookbooks from the past and authors are featured, along with a display of vintage and antiquarian cookbooks. This is a very popular talk that I have visited community groups with over the last five years , for bookings please email sadiehirst@btinternet.com

I am passionate about preserving our culinary heritage and collecting old recipes and cookery books. For five years I have been able to share my recipe collection and interest with a monthly food column in The Lincolnshire Echo and The Target series of Newspapers  http://www.eastlindseytarget.co.uk/  and Retford Times.

I also have a regular six weekly recipe page in the Wolds Scene and Lincs Scene magazine, the fastest growing publication in our area. Many of those recipes can be found in the recipe section of our website. If you wish to use any of these for your school, WI or community group please contact me for permission via email.
